Opening doors, with the Mouse

On a day of activities organized by the WDR broadcasting com-pany, teamtechnik shows its young guests just what's involved in an electric car.

Once again, teamtechnik is one of the more than 600 companies participating in this year's "Opening doors, with the Mouse" day of activities organized by WDR, which are taking place across Germany. On October 3rd every year, the companies involved throw open their doors to show children exactly what they are creating. The visit to the plant in Freiberg was fully booked in a matter of days: more than 50 children and young people aged be-tween 7 and 14 came with their parents and siblings to visit the production halls and the spacious training center. True to the day's slogan, "precious treasures", they were able to investigate everything that goes into building an electric automobile.

Vehicles powered by e-drives are regarded as environmentally friendly. But just how does electricity get the vehicle to move? What components does this involve and how are they made? teamtechnik answered these questions and enabled the 100 "Mouse" guests to discover the secrets of e-mobility. On a tour of the production halls, the children saw the assembly and test lines for electric drives, batteries and solar modules. Then, with the expert assistance of knowledgeable and enthusiastic trainees in the teamtechnik training center, the junior inventors built their very own e-vehicle, powered by electricity generated by a small solar cell. They were then allowed to get into a real electric car and experience for themselves just how quiet and powerful the world of e-mobility is.
